The Chief of Air staff, Air Marshall Sadiq Abubakar has called on personnel of the Nigerian Air force to promote and inculcate the core values of integrity and excellent service delivery and to reinforce a culture of self reliance and prudent management of resources.

He made this call on Saturday in Enugu State during the commissioning ceremony of a new two storey building for married officers at the Nigerian Air Force Base, Emene.

The Chief of Air Staff who was represented by the chief of Administration, Nigeria Air Force Headquarters, Austin Jekennu, also said that they commissioned renovated and new projects in Air Force comprehensive school at Agbani some months ago.

According to him, the building and the water reservoir are immediate interventions to ameliorate the critical challenges confronting the units in terms of accommodation and water provision.

“Enugu is very dear to me, which was why I visited in January to see first-hand the current state of infrastructure and equipment,” he said

He went further to say that he approved the construction of 100,000 litres underground and 30,000 litres overhead water reservoir in the mini-barracks at Abakpa which were all commissioned. “Efforts are in top gear to relocate the base to its permanent site across the runway,” he stated.

He however called on the officers to make judicious use of scarce resources and maintain the infrastructure as best as they can.

In his welcome address, the Commander, 39 Base Service Group, Air commander Ebenezer Olayinka Alade, said that the flats and water projects will go a long way in addressing the precarious accommodation and water situation in Enugu state.
