NUATE Backs NAHCO Board, Management

The National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE) has passed a vote of confidence on the current board and management of Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (NAHCO) led by its chairman, Malam Suleiman Yahyah.

NUATE delivered the message of solidarity signed by its National President, Comrade D.M. Safiyanu to NAHCO, at its recent annual general meeting (AGM) in Abuja.

The union noted that NAHCO is an “outfit with its extreme importance that serves as an integral part of the overall success of the industry that provides essential services to the airlines, which enables such airline enhance its on-time performance and turnaround time.”

Acknowledging the significant investment the board and management have made in human capital development, NUATE urged them to “invest more in training and retraining and encourage your employees and the management to key into the vision and mission of those airlines that you service more so to enhance its safety culture.”

The association noted: “As a trade union, we are not so much given to always relate with company board.”

NUATE however added: “We hasten to recall that some timely fatherly interventions of the NAHCO Board especially its Chairman (Alhaji Suleiman Yahyah) both officially and personally in several thorny industrial issues between NAHCO management and the unions has recorded more successes on both sides for the benefits of all.”

“This, no doubt, is evident in the current harmonious relationship with the company. We look forward to more of this as there are still more issues for concern of the workers to see through,” the union added.

Besides, NUATE said, “we would like to encourage you all not to spare any effort in providing modern equipment/infrastructures, which include quality and qualitative conditions of service to your employees for quality service delivery and customer satisfaction as NAHCO is the company to beat when it comes to handling services in Nigeria.”

“It is our belief that we all understand the need for the company and its management to appreciate safety management system of the airlines, key into them as we provide the desired critical safety service of the airlines. These on our part, we promise to continue to guarantee, given the continuous existence of the current harmonious relationship and its expected improvement.”
