FCTA Nabs Suspected Fraudster

Officials of the FCT Administration working in concert with security agents have apprehended a suspected fraudster who has been defrauding FCT residents with a promise to help them secure land allocation, award of contracts or employment in the FCT Administration.

In a statement it issued on Friday, FCTA accused the fraudster, Sanusi Bello, of conning unsuspecting individuals and companies into parting with various sums of money with the assurance that he could secure Land Allocation, jobs and award of contracts under the FCT Administration and its Agencies.

Bello, it was alleged, would pose as a brother of the FCT Minister, approach these companies and individuals, and request for money to be paid to him after collecting their curriculum vitae and company profiles.

Luck, however, ran out on him when a crack team of intelligence officers, acting on a tip-off, swooped on him while he was in the process of defrauding another individual (name withheld) and arrested him on Thursday evening.

The suspected fraudster who hails from Jada Local Government, in Adamawa State is said to have confessed to the crime and pleaded for forgiveness.

Investigation is still ongoing to unravel other circumstances surrounding the criminal act.

The statement also advised FCT residents to beware of criminally minded people like Sanusi Bello, who might deceive them into parting with their monies or valuables under the pretense of helping them to secure any favour from the government.

It said FCTA conducts the businesses of governance through due process and transparency and thus, does not use any individual or organization to circumvent the laid down procedures.
