The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned in unequivocal terms the invasion of Kpaidna and some other villages in Bosso local government area of Niger state by men of the Nigerian Army.

The party described the action of the soldiers who carried out the assault as not only senseless but a violation of the fundamental human rights of the villagers.

The PDP said in a statement signed by its chairman Barrister Tanko Beji that the claim by the soldiers that they were searching for arms and ammunitions allegedly kept by the villagers was totally untenable.

Not less than 15 people, some of them soldiers, were killed in the attack on Kpaidna village last weekend when men of the Nigerian Army and the Air Force invaded the village in search of hidden arms and ammunition.

The Nigerian Army on Sunday claimed it lost an officer and 11 soldiers as well as five vehicles which were badly damaged.
