The federal government on Friday inaugurated Mr. Bisi Adegbuyi, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO)/Post Master General (PMG) for the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) for the first year term of four years.

At the inauguration ceremony in Abuja, the Minister of Communications, Mr. Adebayo Shittu, charged the PMG to raise the revenue base of the agency to N1 trillion annually.

He said: “The full implementation of the stamp duties Act is overdue. Records indicate that NIPOST earned N4.87 billion in 2013 with a little scratch of the stamp duties rates.

“I am confident that with efficient management of this revenue source, we can add over a trillion naira to government’s purse in a year.”

He urged Adebuyi to think out of the box with radical ideas coupled with team work to attain a rapid turn-around, adding, give us a modern, responsive and efficient NIPOST that will be a pride not only to President Muhammadu Buhari, but the entire Nigerians.

While tasking Adebuyi on the challenges ahead of him, he said: “I must let you know that you are stepping into an office that requires a lot of work to meet up with the reform promises we have made to Nigerians.

“Government intends to chart towards re-awakening NIPOST (which I call the sleeping giant) and re-position it not just to become one of the elite parastatals of government but a world class business conglomerate of all time.”
