Oyo Reconstitutes AIDS Board, Targets 90% Prevalence Reduction

In a bid to reduce the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in Oyo State, the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration has approved the inauguration of the Board of Oyo State Action Committee on AIDS, OYSACA.

Chairman of the Board, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, while constituting the committee at the OYOSACA office, in Ibadan recently, stressed that the formation of the state SACA board was imperative for the smooth operation of the agency and to achieve the vision 90:90:90.
She said it was to ensure that at least 90 per cent of people had access to free testing, 90 per cent of those tested positive were given adequate support and drugs for viral suppression, achieve zero transmission and reduce the prevalence by 90 per cent.

The OYSACA chairperson urged the members of the board to be more committed and aggressive in their approach towards the fight against the scourge.

Earlier in his opening address, the Acting Project Manager, Mr. Olufemi Oyeniyi said the state SACA was established to coordinate the overall response to HIV and AIDS.

Oyeniyi asserted that the pandemic virus has wreaked havoc on the productivity of the people, especially the youths, thus requiring the collective efforts of all in combating it. He appreciated Governor Ajimobi’s commitment to ensuring HIV/AIDS free generation in the state.
