The doctors of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, have called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to probe alleged financial misconduct by certain staff of the health institution.
Acting under the aegis of the Medical and Dental Consultants’ Association of Nigeria, the doctors said the alleged hostile disposition of the accountant of the hospital , Mr Rotimi Aladesawe, has been impeding the Acting Medical Director, Dr Raymond Okere, from running the hospital in the most proper and professional way.
Issuing a 14-day ultimatum for the payment of full salaries to medical doctors, contrary to the half being paid currently, the doctors also passed a vote of no confidence on the hospital’s accountant.
They urged the hospital’s management to effect his immediate removal to engender industrial harmony in the health institution.
Okere came into office in March, 2016, following the abrupt termination of his predecessor, Dr Lawrence Ayodele’s tenure due to persistent crises he had with the workers.
At a press conference in Ado Ekiti at the weekend by their Chairman, Dr. Timothy Olajide, the doctors said the present position of the hospital where the accountant had allegedly been hiding the financial records from the Acting CMD made it imperative for the anti-graft agency to wade in without delay.
