The Bridge Clinic, one of Nigeria’s foremost and leading fertility centres has achieved a 49 per cent pregnancy rate for its patients between the ages of 21 and 35 years in 2015, revealed in an audit report by Alexander Forbes.

Speaking during the presentation of the report to the fertility clinic, the Head, Verification Services, Alexander Forbes, Ibilola Akinla, said after its assessment, it was discovered that the clinic recorded a total of 215 pregnancies in 2015 from a total of 758 clients that had valid treatments during the year under review, from which its golden standard (21 to 35 years) achieved 49 per cent success rate.

“In carrying out our audit, we found that the clinic achieved a pregnancy rate of 49 per cent from its client who are in the golden standard. It also achieved an overall pregnancy rate of over 22 per cent. Our audit also found that the clinic had a total of 91 babies, comprising 61 single births and 15 twin births in 2015 and has delivered a total of 1203 children since 2006,” she continued.

Speaking at the event, the General Manager, The Bridge Clinic, Dr. Ekundayo Omogbehin, said the company retained the services of the frontline business services consultancy in order to have an independent and authoritative assessment of its practice.

According to him, “The Bridge Clinic has a culture of transparency and it is in line with this culture that we submit ourselves to the highest integrity scrutiny. Alexander Forbes has today put their seal on our performance and it is a thing of joy for us here.

“Our achievement of 49 per cent pregnancy rate for our gold standard clients, that is, clients below the age of 35 years is a feat no other clinic in Nigeria has been able to achieve. It puts us in a highly competitive stance with our peers in Europe and North America,” he added.

Omogbehin said the feat was as a result of a combination of the clinic’s over 16 years experience, its highly trained and motivated personnel, its cutting edge technology, as well as its processes that are benchmarked with the European standards.

“Our key differentiators from other fertility clinics in Nigeria are our experience, pregnancy rate, ISO certification and international affiliation with the world’s renowned IVF Centres Prof. Zech, Austria. In its 16 years of operations in Nigeria, The Bridge Clinic has achieved the birth of over 2023 babies, which comes to an average of one baby in every three days, another feat yet to be rivalled by any other fertility clinic in the country,” he continued.

He drew attention to the disparity between the pregnancy rates of the golden standard clients and the older ones and called on couples who have fertility challenges to seek early fertility attention to boost their chances of getting pregnant.

“From the audit report it is glaring that the golden standard clients have higher pregnancy rates than the older clients. This shows the need for fertility-challenged couples to seek urgent medical attention and not wait till when they fall out of the golden standard range. As a fallout of the report, we have created the FertilitySure product to assist intending and newly-married couples in ascertaining their fertility status so that those who need fertility management could commence their treatment early,” Omogbehin concluded.

He recalled that the clinic recorded a live birth of a baby from a frozen egg earlier in the year, which is the first of its kind in Nigeria, thus putting the country in the global map in oocyte cryopreservation.
