The All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant in the next Ondo State governorship election, Chief Rotimi Akeredolu, has said politicians and political parties are responsible for the crisis that always leads to stalemated elections.

Akeredolu, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), stated that Nigerians should stop blaming the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) for cases of inconclusive elections recorded recently.

Addressing journalists yesterday at the national secretariat of the APC shortly after picking his nomination forms, Akeredolu said: “When INEC make some efforts to put in place all their preparations toward the elections, politicians will go ahead and put impediments on their path.

“I can assure you that this inconclusive election has been a thing of concern to everybody but the question must be asked, who is to be blamed? I think the blame is for all of us, and I want to believe that mainly the blame is for the politicians because when INEC make some efforts to put in place all their preparations toward the elections, politicians will go ahead and put impediments on their path, it is an unfortunate development.”
He regretted that increasing rate of violence that accompanies recent elections has not enabled INEC to make significant progress from where the former INEC boss stopped.

On what he has in stock for the people, the APC governorship aspirant said: “If given the mandate, we shall take the state to enviable height, without celebrating cosmetic achievements as we have now.”
Regarding the conduct of governorship election in Ondo State, Akeredolu said the exercise would not be disrupted by violence.

The governorship aspirant who said he has what it takes to move the state forward, assured his people that priority will be given to the issue of youth unemployment.
“I don’t have any fear about the election in the state. I can assure you that results will be declared the following day,” he said.
