The late Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade, has been described as a monarch whose political ideology was misunderstood in many quarters
This was expressed by the president of Ife Development Board, Professor Muyibi Opeloyeru at the unveiling of events to mark the first anniversary of the passing on of the 50th Ooni
Opeloyeru said though the late Sijuwade was seen in some qaurters as interfering in partisan politics, wielding much influence in the socio-political affairs of the country, he had only performed his duties dutifully as the custodian of the Yoruba race.
Opeloyeru also noted that the late Ooni
had worked for the unity of Yoruba land when he was alive and tranformed Ife to an enviable community.
