Gowon Urges Buhari‎ to Restore Confidence in Nigeria’s Economy

  • Says anyone found guilty of budget paddling should not go scot free.

A former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon, on Wednesday urged President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to ensure that the country’s economy regains its strength.

He spoke at Ile-Ife Health Caravan and award ceremony for the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, who was conferred with the title of Royal Ambassador for Hepatitis Advocacy in Nigeria.

The event, which commenced at Ile-Ife on Wednesday with free screening, was organised by the Seham Health Care Foundation as part of activities to commemorate the 2016 World Hepatitis Day. ‎

Responding to questions after the award ceremony, Gowon urged Nigerians to cooperate with government, saying that the FG was doing everything within its reach to resolve the economic challenge.

When asked to suggest solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenge,Gowon said, “‎Let the current authority find a way out of the current economic crisis.

He said the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has been telling us what they have been doing to get the economy strong again. She said all will be well by September. Let’s wait till then,” he said.
