Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has given assurances that with the increase in the allocation to all tiers of government from the federation account, local governments in the state were better positioned to pay salaries of their workers and those of primary and junior secondary teachers.

Ahmed disclosed this in Ilorin on Monday while performing the swearing-in of the Acting Grand Khadi of the State, Khadi Shehu Muhammad AbdulBaki at the Governor House Ilorin.

He assured workers that with the increase, “the worst times are over”.

According to him, “The increased allocation is complemented by the growth in our Internally Generated Revenue to ensure that the State government continues to meet salary obligations and funding for infrastructure”.

He said,”All projects stalled by funding challenges will resume shortly across the state”.

On cultism in the state, Ahmed said, “With the amended anti-cultism law in the state, cultists would no longer have breathing space as the law would be implemented to the letter.

According to him, “The amendment has strengthened the existing law on cultism by providing a maximum of 14-year jail term for anyone found guilty of cult related activities in the State.”

He opined that the law would work effectively if parents, guardian and other members of society keep a closer eye on the youths, remain vigilant and report unusual behaviors and movements to security agencies.

“Let there be no doubt about it, we will make Kwara State unwelcome for those involved in this nefarious act by enforcing the Anti-cultism law, as amended to the letter. It is our determination that this will also bring an end to cultism in Kwara State” he said.
