The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria; Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) and National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) have entered into a tripartite arrangement to improve products’ delivery to filling stations in Nigeria.
PTD’s National Chairman, Mr. Salimon Oladiti disclosed this to journalists when he visited the national headquarters of IPMAN on Monday in Abuja.
Oladiti stated that PTD approached IPMAN and NUPENG to form a tripartite committee to oversee seamless business interaction within the groups in the distribution of petroleum products.
He stated that such committee would also present a common front to advance their interests in the downstream petroleum sector.
According to him, when in place, the tripartite committee will consider sustainable ways of helping the government keep petroleum products available in the country.
“We are here to reconfirm that the PTD and NUPENG stand by IPMAN. I can assure you sir that PTD will work with IPMAN anytime and any day.
“We are trying to form a tripartite committee to present a common front that would easily drive government policies and ensure smooth distribution of petroleum products across the country. We expect IPMAN to be in that committee because divided we fall, united we stand,” said Oladiti to the chairman of IPMAN board of trustees, Aminu Abdulkadir.
He also expressed hopes that the resolution of the internal leadership crisis in IPMAN would ensure they get back to their status in the country’s downstream oil and gas sector.
Abdulkadir said his response that IPMAN would be ready to work with relevant organisations, including PTD to support the government’s efforts at keeping products always available in the country.
He noted that IPMAN and other independents are in charge of 80 per cent of the market and are in all nooks and cranny of the country.
Similarly, IPMAN’s National President, Mr. Lawson Obasi, said that the association has been re-positioned to increase fuel supply across the country.
