A group, the Northern Interfaith and Religious Organization for Peace, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the absorption of Civilian JTF into the military following their heroism displayed by them since the war against Boko Haram insurgents started.

Addressing journalists on Sunday in Abuja, its National Coordinator, Bishop Musa Fomson, said the absorption of 250 ex-members of the Civilian-JTF into the military was a confirmation that the fight against terrorism has gotten to the point where home-grown solutions have to be adopted to tackle the menace.

Fomson stated: “We wholeheartedly laud the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari for this new development as part of efforts to mop up the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.

“To us, the training and absorption of these 250 ex-members of the Civilian-JTF, into the Nigerian Army and the others taken by the other security agencies is a confirmation that the fight against terrorism has gotten to the point where home grown solutions have to be engineered for terrorism, which is a global problem”

“Our hope and belief is that youths in any other part of Nigeria where criminal elements are fomenting trouble would realise that the ultimate winning side is the government side and would thus naturally pitch their tent with our security forces. Instead of joining forces with those with evil plots it is far better to support security agencies to fight against them”.
