Medview to Consolidate Lagos-London Route, Plans US Operation

Undeterred by the forex crisis facing carriers in Nigeria’s aviation sector which has forced some airlines to pull out of the country, Medview Airlines has said it will be consolidating its Lagos-London operation with the acquisition of a new 747-400 aircraft.

The airline which started operation on the route November last year said the success of its operation on the route and the constant barrage of requests from customers for more seats necessitated the need for a second aircraft on the route. Medview Airline Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Alhaji Muneer Bankole, said the airline will be taking delivery of the B747-400 aircraft in the next couple of days.

Bankole also disclosed that Medview will be taking delivery of a B777 aircraft to mark its third year anniversary on hajj operation in the country and also complement its operation on the route.

The Medview boss also revealed that plans are in top gear to commence operations into the US in the near future saying “we run 14 stations apart from international stations. We are already in Dubai. The only one we are not running now is the US.”

He revealed that Medview will be looking at Baltimore, Washington or somewhere different from New York “…because that is where you have a whole lot of African people in the corridor. We don’t want to play a game and announce that we are following the other airlines. We want to come out with a separate idea, initiate it and groom it.”
