The former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the governorship candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Chief Murkus Gundiri were yesterday received in a warm reception at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Party secretariat in Adamawa State.

The loyalists of the APC in the state expressed joy yesterday at the return of the two political wigs whose credibility is not questionable and stands them out from other politicians in the state.

A loyalist at the party secretariat told THISDAY that the reasons why some party big-wigs were protesting their return to APC was because of the fear of 2019 general election seeing that the presence of these two politicians may be a political hindrance to some of them.

He said already there are underground forces to frustrate the two politicians to make them unpopular and to also frustrate them out of the party like the last time they were frustrated out of the party.

Both Ribadu and Gundiri were among the founding fathers of the APC merger until they were both frustrated out of the party following some decisions taken by the national headquarters of the party which was not in favour of the two political giants.

The decision of the national headquarters of the APC then forced Ribadu and Gundiri to defect to other political parties to express their governorship ambition. Ribadu defected to the PDP and Gundiri left for SDP and all contested in the last governorship election held in the state that brought the incumbent governor, Senator Mohammed Jibrilla Bindow to power under the platform of the APC.

However Ribadu at the party secretariat reiterated that their return was not to wrestle the party structures from anybody but to contribute their quotas and develop the party in the state, adding that they also want to be part of the good job the governor is doing in the state especially his road projects.
He expressed joy and said God has brought them back home. “You have shown us that you love your children and cannot throw them away; thank you because we are only coming to join hand to serve our people”, he said.

“I was among the people to congratulate the governor in the last election when the result of election was declared. We want to build our land, we went to our wards to register, local government and we have come to the state to identify with the party”, he said

Gundiri, on his own part said, “we are not visitors but prime movers to create APC and we were part of the preparation of the party’s manifestos and. When they pleaded with us to come back to APC, we agree to come and help the party thrive in the state.”

The two politicians promised to support the governor and help him where necessary.
Earlier the State Acting Chairman of APC, Alhaji Ibrihim Bille said Ribadu and Gundiri have gone to their various wards to register and their local government and have come to the state secretariats of the party to register their presence.

Bille urged the two politicians to support governor Bindow and the party to clinch the 21 chairmanship and 226 councillorship seats in the forthcoming local government election slated for 30th of this month in the state. He said their coming will strengthen the party and give the party some values given the credibility of the two politicians.
