Hoodlums Injure 9 Delta Councillors During Legislative Sitting

Hell was let loose on Thursday as hoodlums stormed the legislative arm of Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, inflicting various degrees of injury on councillors during a legislative session by the lawmakers.
The hoodlums, who were armed with dangerous weapons including guns, cutlasses, battle axes, wounded five councillors, three members of staff of the council and the Clerk of the House who was allegedly stabbed on the head.
THISDAY gathered that the quick intervention of a team of military members saved some of the lawmakers and apprehended 18 of the hoodlums and handed them over to the police at the Ughelli Area Command for prosecution.
Giving details of the incident, the Leader of the House, December Saromare told newsmen that the hoodlums also made away with the mace of the House after smashing and destroying windows, furniture and other items within the chambers.
