Segun Awofadeji in Gombe
Gombe state government says it has procured and distributed 120,000 metric tonnes of assorted fertilizer and other agricultural inputs since assuming office in 2011.
It said the inputs had all along been sold to farmers at subsidised rates as part of the efforts to support improved productivity in the state’s agricultural sector.
Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo stated this in Gombe on Thursday during the flag-off of sales and distribution of 20,000 metric tonnes of assorted fertilizer for this year’s farming season in Gombe state.
He said the commodity had been fixed for N4,700.00 per bag, amounting to over 50% subsidy.
He said he was committed to ensuring that the fertilizers reached the grassroots, hence he warned against diversion of the goods as government would not spare anyone found in the act.
