NSCDC Arrests 11 Suspects, Impounds 153,000 Litres of PMS

For their alleged involvement in the diversion of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) also known as petrol, the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 11 suspects who were also in possession of fake way bills.

The command also impounded five trucks allegedly used to convey 153,000 litres of PMS illegally.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Fasiu Adeyinka, who disclosed the arrest of the suspects on Monday said the suspects along with the trucks were arrested at various locations in the state between 22nd of June, 2016, and 14th of July, 2016.

He explained that one Lukman Adamu (driver) and Abubaka Bashir were arrested with their DAF truck with registration number ABJ 834 NS containing 40,000 litres of premium motor spirit at Onipetesi Ore on Lagos Benin expressway in Odigbo Local government area.

He said the suspects were unable to present the way bill as at the point of arrest which gave the suspicion that the product might be siphoned from vandalised pipelines.

“The suspects, Umar Abubaka (driver), Masaudu Muhammed and Muhammed Yakubu with their DAF Forte oil branded truck with registration number GWA 480 YM Abuja containing 36,000 litres of PMS were arrested at Owode Owena on Ilesha-Expressway, on 4th of July,2016 for not having waybill.

“Kelvin Ozioko and Akhere Goodnews with their MACK Truck with marked KTU 426 XA containing 33,000 litres of PMS were arrested in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State for illegal diversion of PMS which was meant for one filling station in satellite town, Lagos.

“In the same vein, Shittu Saheed and Saheed Taiwo with their trucks with Registration number APP 33 XP Lagos containing 11,000 litres of PMS were arrested at Goldafem filling station, Ajebamidele town along Ijebu Ode-Ore Expressway on the 12th of July,2016 for illegal diversion of PMS. “
