NIPOST Raises Alarm over Unclaimed Foreign Academic Certificates, Valuables

The management of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) on Friday raised the alarm about academic certificates from foreign higher institutions of learning, dividend warrants and other valuable items that have piled up at the post offices waiting for collection.

The Service is also worried about the growing number of local postal letters in its custody for lack of insufficient addresses.

These facts were contained in a statement signed by Mr. Taiye Olaniyi, and made available to the media in Abuja.

It said the items could not be delivered within the advertised time frame to their owners in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The statement said: “Any resident of the metroplolis who is expecting one mail or the other is therefore advised to visit NIPOST at their offices with concrete and verifiable identifications.”

It explained that seamless mail or letter delivery is predicated on the provision of legible, accurate and identifiable addresses as post office box or private mail bag numbers, house numbers and locations as well as post code of the area.

“Basically, a correctly addressed mail is pf mutual benefits to the operator and the customer. It hastens mail processing and facilities prompt deliveries to rightful owners.”
