The newly established Delta State Innovation Hub (DS-IHUB), designed to harness all knowledge attributes, potential and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) processes as core accelerator for leadership, public policy, inclusive governance and wealth creation, is set to induct select ICT experts into the Technology Innovation Hall of Fame, its Director General, Chris Uwaje has said.
The select ICT experts will be given ‘Life-Time Achievement Award’, in recognition and appreciation of their over two decades of distinguished and innovative leadership, unmatched professional commitment and inspirational contributions in science, technology and innovation for humanity.
Empowered by Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the DS-IHUB is set to step out in style with a proof of concept and bold statements on innovation and entrepreneurship.
According to Uwaje, the DS-Innovation Hub is a disruptive technology platform for re-engineering the blueprint for smarter processes, more effective leadership and governance for inclusive public service. The Hub will provide expertise on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), Information and Communications Technology (ICT) policy roadmap and implementation strategy advice on new processes and emerging approaches to conceptualisation, application and usage of Information and Communications Technology to respond to challenges and drive innovative solutions at all levels of engagement.
Those to be inducted include the founder and publisher of Guardian Newspapers, late Alex Ibru; the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu; Chairman of Zenith Bank, Jim Ovia; former Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Dr. Ernest Ndukwe; Chief Executive Officer of MainOne Broadband Company, Funke Opeke; Political Economy and Management expert, Prof. Pat Utomi, among others.
“The Hall of Fame will establish an endowment fund whose content will focus on insightful perspectives and strategies on how to effectively engage the challenges of technology innovation in Delta State and Nigeria. The endowment fund will focus on Technology Leadership, State Policy and Strategy, e-Government, Education, Industry and Entrepreneurship, Research and Development, Software Development Smart City Initiative Start-up and Incubators, E-Health, Youth Employment, Women Empowerment, Technology Funding, Venture Capital and Angel Investors, State Security, among others. The Hub aims to be a well groomed platform for timely harnessing critical knowledge,” Uwaje said.
