Ondo: Kidnapped Monarch Regains Freedom

The abducted traditional ruler of an Ondo State community, the Laragunsin of Ode-Iyasan ‎in Irele Local Government Area of the state,, Oba Abiodun Oyewunmi, was early Sunday released unhurt.

The release of the monarch was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, Mr Femi Joseph, saying that the royal father regained his freedom at Gbelegun village, a riverine community in Edo state early on Sunday.

He said the monarch regained freedom through combined efforts of the marine police, Police anti-kidnapping squad and some military officers.

Joseph, who said the monarch was hale and hearty, said no ransom was paid for the release and that the police had not made any arrest.

The PPRO however, gave the assurance that the abductors would be arrested and be brought to book as security agencies are on their trail.

Excited by the release of the traditional ruler, a member of the House of Representatives from Okitipupa /Irele Federal Constituency of the state, Hon. Mike Omogbehin, on Sunrday commended the nation’s security operatives especially the Military, the police anti-kidnapping unit and Marine
Police for rescuing a kidnapped monarch from his constituency,

The royal father was abducted from his palace early last week.
