A 16-year-old battle between the warring parties in Odokoro-Gbede communities over traditional stool in Ijumu Local Government Area in Kogi State has been put to rest following the intervention of the administrator of the local government area, Alhaji Taufiq Isa.

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, had earlier directed the administrators of the 21 local government areas to ensure the amicable settlements of some crises-ridden communities in the state.

In line with the directive issued by the governor, the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government Area, who is also ALGON state chairman, Alhaji Taufiq Isa, swung into action to resolved the lingering crisis that engulfed the Odokoro-Gbede community in the last 16 years, leaving it without a paramount ruler.

Recently, due to the reconciliatory efforts of the present administrator, a truce was reached as Alhaji Isa Abdul Ganiyu Elewonibi 11 was installed as the Olu of Odokoro Gbede yesterday.

At the coronation ceremony, the Oba of Iyamoye, Alhaji Ibrahim Momoh, in his speech, said Elewonibi, deserved the long agitated royal stool, noting that he was the rightful person to occupy the exalted position.
The newly-coronated Olu of Odokoro-Gbede while presenting his speech, thanked the people for the immeasurable support given to him.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner for Education, Hon. Sunday Tolorunleke who represented the governor said the ceremony was made possible because of the governor’s peace agenda.
He added that he had earlier directed that all community disputes must be resolved by the administrators, and thanked Taufiq for his leadership qualities in resolving crisis of over 16 years.
