Task Force Arrests 15 Notorious Cultists in Lagos

The operatives of the Lagos State Task Force have arrested 15 notorious cultists popularly known as ‘Awawa Boys’ at the Dopemu area of Agege. THISDAY gathered that the arrest was based on the directive by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, to the task force to check the activities of these notorious cultists. According to intelligence report, these cultists have been dispossessing members of the public of their valuables, as well as raping young girls around Aluminium Village, Valley Estate and the entire Dopemu community.

During the operations, which were led by the Chairman of the Lagos State Task Force, Olayinka Egbeyemi, five kingpins and 10 members of this notorious group were arrested. The arrested suspects were identified as 29-year-old Ajayi Babatunde Lukumon, 24-year-old Ajose Anthony, 32-year-old Adebayo Nurudeen, 38-year-old Olayemi Lasege, 23-year-old Sanusi Afeez and 30-year-old Popoola Fatai. Others include 27-year-old Popoola Yakubu, 20-year-old Ajibade Oluwafemi, 33-year-old Opeyemi Oluwasola, 21-year-old Adewunmi Oluwatobi, 25-year-old Akerele Sunday, 32-year-old Timothy Ogar, 21-year-old Actor Amechi, 30-year-old Jimoh Sanni and 27-year-old Owolabi Adediran. When the task force stormed the area, the suspects were said to have gone violent and pelted the operatives with broken bottles and other dangerous weapons before they were overpowered.
