Leadership Tussle Rocks Ondo OPC

A leadership tussle has broken out within Dr Fredrick Faseun’s faction of Oodua People’s Congress as two persons are laying claims to the leadership position of the pan-Yoruba organisation.

While the Founder, Faseun, has appointed Michael Oladun as the new governor of the state chapter of the organisation, the former occupier of the office, Mr Olutayo Alao, said he is still in charge because his tenure has not expired.

However, members of the organisation said Oladun, a legal practitioner, had replaced Alao whose tenure expired since last year.

They said despite the expiration of the Alao’s tenure, he has refused to hand over the instrument of office and is still acting in that capacity.

In order to remain relevant, the members accused Alao, popularly called Modakeke, of appointing himself as an ambassador of OPC, an office that is not known to the OPC’s constitution.

The State Secretary of the organization, Mr Olayemi Egbeola, told journalists on Monday that before the expiration of the tenure of Alao, Faseun had removed him from office for alleged gross abuse of office.
