Inside Banking

By Nume Ekeghe

Situated in the heart of perhaps the largest electronics market in West Africa, this small branch was as busy as the environment.

Inside this branch, the staircase leads customers upstairs to the banking hall. On the left side of the banking hall were two customer service personnel. There were also six tellers attending to all banking transactions and other operations staff. The hall was however very small and congested. At the time of this observation, most of the air conditioning systems were not working, making the dirty hall very stuffy.

However, services at this branch were commendable. The tellers attending to cash deposits, devised a quick means to attending to customers. One took the requests and counted the monies, while the other teller posted the transactions. The other teller that was paying and collecting monies were also very fast whilst attending to customers.

In line with banks new strategy to expand, the management of this bank should consider this branch among the top on its priority list. Before that happens, managers of this this branch should ensure the banking hall is conducive for banking transactions.
