I Did Not Disagree with UBA, Says Jimoh Ibrahim

The Group Managing Director, Energy Group, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, has described as mischievous, a report by a national newspaper that he disagreed with the United Bank for Africa (UBA) over the aviation intervention fund.

He said the report was nothing but a figment of the reporter’s imagination or a deliberate attempt on the part of the newspaper to twist facts.

Ibrahim was at the Senate on Wednesday to answer questions on the airline intervention fund purportedly given to Air Nigeria where he stated that Air Nigeria did not requested for the fund from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) or the Bank of Industry (BoI).
“I am on tape and on record as the information carried by the wewspaper on Thursday is untrue, mischievous and false,” he said.

“All I said was that “Air Nigeria did not directly apply to BoI or CBN and if UBA applied on her behalf or her instructions, it was to clear the debt of Air Nigeria which was inherited from the Mr. Richard Branson-led management.

“I have noticed that the newspaper has been mischievous about information about our group after I sacked one of the wives of the Editor of the newspaper for non-performance on duty when she was in the employment of Global Fleet Oil and Gas. I expect the newspaper to live above board.”

Again, the newspaper quoted Mr. John Nnorom but Ibrahim snapped that Nnorom did not testify while he was at the Senate but he was there looking.

He said: “Mr. Nnorom could not have testified in my presence since I dismissed him from service of Air Nigeria. The police report is on record.”

Ibrahim has, however, instructed his lawyers to file writ of sermon against any newspaper that publishes any mischievous information on him under any pretense henceforth while challenging the Editor of the newspaper to cry out if his wife did not work with Global Fleet Oil & Gas before ‘I sacked her.’
