PDP Crises : Agbonayinma Pitches Tent with Sheriff, to Run for Edo Governor

Hon. Ehiozuwa Agbonayinma has declared his intention to join the governorship race in Edo state under the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff factional leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He represents Oredo federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Briefing newsmen on Thursday evening, the lawmaker said Modu Sheriff is the authentic Chairman of the PDP, and should be so recognised.

The position of PDP caucus in the House aligns with that of the party National Executive Council which put Senator Ahmed Makarfi in charge of a caretaker commitee to organise elections and asked Modu Sheriff to step aside.

“ What we were told by the party leadership is that our party has decided that Sheriff should step aside. And as a party loyalist, I followed suit, now regrettably. I had never laid my eyes on any Court order until last week,” he said.

Agbonayinma added that he sought legal interpretation of the court order and discovered that Sheriff is indeed the authentic Chairman of the party.

He also disclosed that he would be picking the nomination form to declare his interest in the race on Friday.

Agbonayinma participated in the primaries which produced Iyamu but has now described it as faulty and a cosmetic process.
