Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has harped on the need for parents to demonstrate their commitment to God through proper upbringing of their children in the ways and fear of the Creator.
Okowa made the remarks at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Emede, Isoko South Local Government Area, during the funeral for Mr Shedrach Amagada, father of member representing Isoko South 1 constituency in Delta State House of Assembly, Dame Orezi Esievo, at the weekend.
The governor charged parents to have more time for their children and ensure their sound moral character training and commitment to their studies as that would guarantee their better future and a better society.
Okowa said, “Know that whatever you do on earth, it is important to stay committed to God and humanity. Parents should make out time to be with their children always and be interested in their education and welfare; the youths should also have time for their studies and abide by the ways of God to become responsible citizens.
“The more we devote our lives to the Word of God and abide by it the better our lives and families will be. From his biography the late Pa Amagada was committed to God and struggled to acquire education; we are all here to witness the kind of life he lived, we can see this in the children he left behind.”
