The Nigerian military has successfully repelled recent attacks by Boko Haram terrorists in parts of their location in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, killing six in the process.
The Director of Army Public Relations (DAPR), Col. Sani Usman, in a statement yesterday, said troops from 121 Task Force Battalion, 26 Task Force Brigade, on Sunday, successfully repelled an attack on their location by suspected terrorists at Pulka.
Usman said the terrorists who came through Banki axis of the Sambisa forest, attempted to inflict damage on the troops.
“But the vigilant soldiers rose to the occasion and dealt decisively with the terrorists by killing six of them,” he stated.
He added that the troops also recovered one Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle with registration number 167229, two belts of 148 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and 1 FN rifle magazine loaded with 7.62mm ammunition (Special).
Usman said that the troops also blew up three Vehicles laden with Improvised Explosives Device (VBIEDs).
Unfortunately, he said, five soldiers sustained various degrees of injuries during the attack.
He however noted that the injured soldiers have been moved to the unit’s Medical Reception Station for treatment.
