We’ll Apply Federal Character for Stability in Oye Varsity –VC

By Olakiitan Victor

For the principles of justice, equity and fairplay to be deeply entrenched in the running of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, has assured that his administration won’t negate the tenets of federal character in its dealings.

Soremekun said this at the weekend while playing host to officials of the Federal Character Commission, led by the commissioner representing Ekiti state, Mr Bunmi Ojo in his office .

He said he would ensure that the principles of federal character were strictly applied in employment, admissions and in appointments, to bring stability to the citadel of learning, adding that he could not afford to work at variance with the policies of the federal government that brought him into office.

Soremekun added that the interest of all Nigerians, irrespective of race religion, gender or region are equitably represented while at the same time considering merit throughout his tenure.

He said it was in consonance to this that the university widely
advertised vacancies for teaching and non- teaching positions for all
willing and qualified Nigerians to apply.

“We are mindful of the sensitivity of the principles of Federal Character to the impending staff recruitment and we know such would give preference to some states who are yet to be represented in the university .
