Shell Commences ‘MaketheFuture’ Campaign

Shell has launched a public service campaign in Nigeria to seek sustainable solutions to global energy challenge.

The essence of the campaign, ‘makethefuture’ is to encourage debate, gather   and combine workable ideas which would help in solving the problem of energy management in the face of ever growing population.

Explaining further, Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Ltd (SPDC) and Country Chair, Shell Companies in Nigeria, Osagie Okunbor, said that the initiative followed from the ‘Let’s Go’ outreach and sought to promote advocacy and partnership for bright energy Ideas, as part of the company’s   thought leadership on the future of energy.

“Like everyone else, we are keen to see how a growing population will provide for its energy needs. Studies show that energy use has increased globally at the same time that we face the challenges of climate change and reduction of Co2 emissions.

The campaign therefore seeks to challenge assumptions and spark imaginative thinking on how to make today’s energy go further and to find cleaner energy for the future” Okunbor noted.

The primary target of the campaign is the Energy Engaged Millennials of between 18 and 34 years, who are expected to lead the debate on energy efficiency.

As part of the campaign, there will be simultaneous football matches in Lagos, London and Brazil on June 30, 2016, to further arouse public awareness on the initiative.

The campaign will also hold in other countries including the United States, United Kingdom and China. It ends in August, 2016.
