Police Arraign 3 for Alleged Gang Rape of 16-year-old Girl

Three accused persons – Akinpolu Ayobami, 20, Oseni Buli, 20 and Sunday Oyedeji, 29 – were on Monday charged at Modakeke Magistrate Court for alleged gang rape of a 16-year-old girl.

Also, a court has sentenced a man to four years’ imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle.

The police prosecutor, Sgt Ona Glory, informed the court that the accused committed the offence on May 9, 2016 around 8:00pm at Oke-dio Area, Modakeke in Ife North East LG of Osun.

Glory noted that the accused were being tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and unlawful carnal knowledge of a minor.

He stressed that all the accused conspired to lure the 16-year-old in an uncompleted building where they all took their turns with her.

According to him, the offence was contrary to section 357 and punishable under sections 358 and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the two count charge levelled against them.
