Embattled provost of Federal School of Medical Laboratory Technology, Jos, Plateau State, Dr. Sunday Nkereuwem Etukudoh, who was recently released on bail from prison custody in Jos where he had been in detention for two weeks following Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s charges against him, is now battling the management, staff, and students of the college to return for a third tenure.

The staff and students, who addressed the press in protest against Etukudoh’s plan for a new tenure, said the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Official Gazette No. 89 dated 11th October, 2012 Vol. 89 is clear on the tenure of provosts of the school, stressing that no individual is allowed more than two terms of four years each.

The protesters said: “Aside from the fact that Etukudoh is facing crime allegations in court and with the EFCC, he has completed two tenures of four years each as the provost of the college and he’s therefore not qualified for another term.”

The provost is also reportedly witch-hunting some of his senior staff members that have dared to challenge his intention for a third tenure. Most of these staff are also key witnesses to the ongoing court case against him.
