On May 29, the current administration marked one year in office, with mixed reactions from the general public on the performance of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government. Given the platform on promise of change which was the major manifesto of this administration, has the federal government met your development expectation so far, or you expected more after one year in office? What more?

* In one year of APC in governance they have done well to sanitise the system for good governance, despite economic crisis; kudos to the APC government.

* Even though I voted for GEJ at the presidential election, at a time, I became happy that PDP lost. I used to think President Buhari loves Nigeria more than the past president but his silence when he is expected to speak out and condemn evil and atrocities speaks volume. Even though his government is still young, and I understand leadership is a big challenge, I don’t see him achieving more than 30 per cent in three years’ time. I am disappointed.

* If I am to score the PMB administration in the last one year, I will give him 10/100. Nigerians have heard enough stories. After waiting for five months to appoint ministers, there is no change in sight. Instead we have chains of hunger, inconclusive elections, and power failure. We need to unite and pray for Nigeria, and also say the truth.

* I have always believed that if you can’t make the lives of the people any better, don’t make it worse. In a free market economy, the way out of economic downturn is to spend your way out of it, not to put the burden on the masses through higher electricity tariffs and fuel prices. Corruption or not, governance is a continuum. What we will lose to Niger Delta militancy will cancel out the gains of blocked leakages and loot recovered. What disappointed me the most was the forced and delayed reaction of the president to the killings by Fulani mercenaries and the lopsided appointments, in total disregard to the federal character principle.

* Change: the platform which ushered this government in a year ago is evident in agriculture, corruption and public funds recovery; security in particular, winning investors, checking arbitrary wastage of public funds e.t.c. There is room for improvement in other areas, especially electricity, employment, naira strength, and infrastructure e.t.c. The budget too needs genuine implementation.

* I think deregulation of the oil sector is a way forward to the challenges and problems affecting the availability of the products. It encourages competition, it eradicates hoarding, and helps in price stability.

* No! The federal government led by Buhari has not in any way justified the mandate freely given to him by some Nigerians. We cannot actually judge this government in just one year, for Buhari failed woefully. I wish he would realise that the campaign is over.

* The development expectations were not met through removal of fuel subsidy, resulting in high cost of living, no salaries for workers, no food, unemployment, poor roads network. Rainy season is on, no news on fertiliser and seedlings distribution. The change people were yearning for, God was not invited to take full control; hence our present predicament. Let us wait and see the disbursement of the 2016 budget and the outcomes.

* All my expectations have scarcely been addressed. One year in office must be marked, that is in the nature of human beings. 100 days was downplayed, why this? A nation must have a government, so we have some people leading us. However, it’s not yet uhuru, although ‘uhuru’ is achievable, if we want it.

* My expectations have been substantially met in the areas of security, agriculture, corruption, Nigeria’s image redemption, policies restrategising, frauds prevention, and stolen funds recovery, which have been near perfect. Unemployment, infrastructures, budget implementation, and improvement in telecoms e.t.c. all need urgent attention. God bless Nigeria.

* The PMB-led government came on board on the premise of change. This process and its results have been slow and bitter to the dismay of many citizens because most of the reasons for rejecting the previous government are prevalent or dominant in this present government. The present hardships will trigger upheavals if nothing positive is done urgently to reverse it. It is time to avoid chaos. God bless Nigeria.

* So much productive time was spent on photography, travels and blame trading. There is so much to be done and the earlier this administration commit to it, the better for all Nigerians.

* This is a good question. I will say yes and no. Yes, because things are gradually turning around and we are moving towards acceptability in the comity of nations and the war on insurgency and corruption. No, in that we are still grappling with power, unemployment, good roads, potable water and poverty. My belief however is that we are heading in the right direction and we shall eventually conquer come what may because of the doggedness of the present administration.

* Yes, the Federal Government has met my development expectations in the 365 days. Government has succeeded in bringing corruption to almost a halt. We are witnessing the dethronement of the Boko Haram, kidnapping, insurgency and the Niger Delta militants. What remains is the goodies promised the electorate.

* Those who said that PMB has failed in one year are the ones who feel PMB did not open the treasury to loot for never-do-well politicians and leaders. I believe in one year of PMB government, there is sanity in governance and there is focus to diversify our economy from oils to other sectors. We can’t compare a child of one year and that of 16 years and expect the former to perform magic within one year. After all, this man met an empty treasury and he is trying to put things in order; let us give him time.

* In the last one year, the present administration of PMB has truly met some expectations in the areas of fighting corruption and insurgency, but agriculture, un-employment and poverty alleviation need prompt attention. You cannot clear the rot of more than 16 years in just one year. Nigerians must be patient and believe in the government to deliver on its promises. Things will surely get better.

To some, true democracy was displayed by the immediate past president (GEJ) by conceding defeat at the end of the 2015 presidential elections to the current president (PMB), who swept into power on the platform of change and a pledge to make Nigeria a better place for over 170 million citizens.
