Children’s Day: FCT Police Direct Commanders to Beef up Security

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Commissioner of Police, Mr. Wilson Inalegwu, on Thursday directed all its area commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in the command to beef up security at recreational centres, parks and spots where children converge to commemorate the historic day, known as Children’s Day.

A statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Office, Anjuguri Manzah, said the command had identified and deployed both uniformed and plain-clothes police operative for the provision of security at strategic spots that will likely be a beehive of activities to mark the event.

The CP, according to the statement assured the FCT Children Parliament Committee, who paid him a courtesy visit of protection during and after the event.

The statement read: “The CP while welcoming the children to the command enjoined them to obey their parents and always see themselves as good ambassadors of Nigeria who must eschew associating themselves with criminal activities or gangs that will mar their bright and promising future.
Inalegwu, also assured the children that the FCT Police Command is committed to the protection of their rights.

Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, the leader of delegation and Chairperson of the FCT Children Parliament Committee on Child Protection, Miss Habiba Diri, applauded the FCT Police Command for being alive to its responsibility and appealed for measures to be put in place to protect the rights of FCT Children and children across the country.
