The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has said it would be premature to assess the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as he marks his first anniversary in office.

Speaking with newsmen on Thursday, he said any assessment of Buhari could change in the next one or two years.

“The framers of our constitution gave a term of four years to the President. You can assess someone now, and in two years, the position- would change. Let’s be patient and give the government enough time,” he said.

He however noted that the government has ‘done remarkably well’ considering the situation when it took over power on May 29, 2015.

The anticorruption fight has been unprecedented, the leader said and recalled that several people are currently being tried on charges bordering on corruption.
