Dead Persons Found in Bayelsa Education Board Payroll

The Bayelsa state government on Thursday said it had uncovered a payroll fraud involving dead people in the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

The government disclosed that over 765 illegally employed teachers in the eight local government areas, including 50 dead persons in Ogbia Local Government Education Authority had been discovered.

A statement issued in the state government house , quoted the Executive Secretary of SUBEB, Mr Walton Liverpool as saying that with the latest discovery, the government would be saving over N100m monthly.

He said the discovery cuts across the eight local government areas with Ogbia Local Government Education Authority, leading with 230 illegal employees.

The statement noted that Southern Ijaw had 192, Sagbama 136, Ekeremor 108, Brass nine, Nembe 25, Yenagoa 25 and Kolokuma/Opokuma had 40 illegal employees.
