Niger Delta militants on Wednesday disagreed over calls for the sack of Chairman of the Federal Government Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh.
The pro-Boroh group under the aegis of the Concerned Ex-Militant Leaders for Peace and Conflict Resolution (CELPAR), maintained that the campaign against Boroh was a plot by some politicians to truncate the amnesty programme.
State Coordinators of the group, Youpele James (Delta), John John (Bayelsa), Akapaka Lagos (Edo) and Pius Deinfagh (Rivers) accused sponsors of the “Boroh must go” campaign as being behind the renewed insurgency in the region.
They urged President Mohammadu Buhari to shun the campaign against the Amnesty office and probe its sponsors.
” These groups being used by their faceless sponsors and politicians, are not known to the people of the Niger Delta. If they have the interest of the present administration at heart, they should have identified those behind the renegade militant groups and assist the security agencies’’, the group said.
