Following a trip by Bauchi state Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, to Beirut to attract investors that will harness the economic potentials and create job opportunities in the State, a team of Lebanese investors is expected to arrive in the State to prospect for investments opportunities particularly in the tourism, mining and agricultural sectors.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar al-Sadique, and made available to THISDAY in Bauchi on Tuesday.

It said Abubakar who held a series of meetings in Beirut with the Lebanese prime minister and later with the Lebanese ministers of tourism, mining and agriculture as well as members of that country’s chambers of commerce and industries of East and West Beirut stated this on Monday shortly after arriving at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

The Governor said the Lebanese investors and entrepreneurs “many of whom have business interests and relationships with Nigeria spanning over a hundred and fifty years have given their commitments to come over to Bauchi and identify the immediate areas to make investments in by October this year”.

He said: “Although Lebanon may be a small and poor country, its people are highly industrious, enterprising and resilient. That explains why all over the world Lebanese are known for their huge successful investments and we are partnering with them to boost the opportunities that abound in Bauchi State, mainly to create jobs for our people and improve on our locally generated revenue base”.
