The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday in Abuja warned that the ongoing strike will last more weeks until government heeds their demands.

The strike by labour and its civil society allies in Abuja witnessed a ‎huge crowd on Thursday as more unions joined the protest.

The protest started from Berger Roundabout about 9 am, and terminated at the Area 1 roundabout in Abuja.

NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba stated that the union will sustain the protest for more weeks, adding that labour is also “open for dialogue anytime government deems it fit to negotiate with us”.

While addressing the protesters, Wabba explained that the strike is aimed at opposing obnoxious policies that are detrimental to the generality of Nigerians.

“This is about policy engagement; this is about to resist a policy that has been impose on us and therefore we have made the point clearly that NLC must be seen to be consistency of standing by the truth and by the people to the fact that those policies are not consistency with the ideas of ensuring social justices”.
