A former Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has faulted the current political structure of Nigeria, saying it breads corruption, inefficient and incompetent bureaucracies which the country is currently facing.

The former Senate Leader disclosed this on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara state capital, while speaking at the 9th Honourable Justice J.M Adesiyun biennial memorial public lecture organized by the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, in collaboration with the Adesiyun Family of Offa, held at Kwara otels, Ilorin.

He also said that, the present structure cannot deliver development and bring about the needful growth in the country.

Speaking on the topic, ” Democracy, Law and Change: Imperative for Nigeria”, he noted that the way forward is to dismantle the infrastructure for corruption, inefficiency and incompetence which promoted a deliberating and suffocating federal structure.

Senator Ndoma-Egba said Nigerian states were not created in economic considerations or as economic units rather they were created whimsically in political and personal considerations.

According to him, “When the country was using regionalism, the three regions were viable, competitive and remitted to the federation account unlike now when states were conceived as consumption and not production centres”.
