Polio: Sokoto South LG to Immunizes 95,800 Children against Polio

Sokoto South Local Government in Sokoto state said on Sunday it had concluded plans to immunise 95,800 children in the ongoing May Immunisation Plus Days which commenced on Saturday.

The Director of Health in the area, Alhaji Ahmed Ladan, made the disclosure on Sunday in Sokoto when he addressed the members of the Journalists Against Polio (JAP), who monitored the exercise in the area.

He disclosed that the state government had since provided 115,000 doses of the oral polio vaccine to the Council to ensure that the targeted number of children were fully covered.

According to him, 664 teams, each comprising of four health personnel, community, religious and voluntary community mobilizers, among others, were conducting the exercise in the 11 wards of the area.

He explained that the teams comprised fixed posts, house to house, hospital and market teams, among others.

Ladan said the local government council had set up 11 health camps which are operating simultaneously with the polio immunisation exercise.
