Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 18 suspected rampaging youths believed to have been involved in a riot that led to the burning of the residence and farm house of Senator Kabiru Gaya and House of Representatives member Abdullahi Mahmud Gaya.
The spokesman of the police, Deputy Superintendent of Police Musa Magaji Majia, said on Wednesday that the youth attempted to burn the secretariat of Gaya local government area.
According to him, police have also identified five ring leaders of the attack, adding that the operatives have begun trailing them.
He said a team of policemen from Wudil and Gaya local government contributed immensely to douse the tension.
