The Lagos State Police Command has launched a manhunt for Mr. Lekan Shonde, who allegedly killed his wife and mother of his two kids, Ronke in their home at Egbeda in Lagos last Thursday evening.

The mother of two was found dead the next morning in their home at Tiemo Crescent, off Awori Street in Egbeda, and was locked inside with her two kids, Temi and Tiara, by her  husband who is still on the run.

Neighbours broke down the door when they were alerted by the cry of the two kids who were crying that their mother wouldn’t wake up.

Upon entering the flat, they were confronted with the lifeless body of the deceased and quickly called in the police.

Immediately, a manhunt was launched and this was  confirmed by the Lagos State police command Public Relations Officer, Dolapo Badmos.

Badmos said the manhunt was launched for the fleeing suspect because there were “marks of violence” on Ronke, suggesting that she was murdered in cold blood.

She said: “Yes, I confirm the incident. The landlady reported it on Friday at about 8a.m. She said at about 7a.m., she heard the screaming of Mrs. Ronke Shonde’s children, as they couldn’t find the key to open their door from inside.

“When the door was forced open from outside, the lifeless body of the victim was found on the floor. Police operatives visited the scene and the corpse was removed and deposited at the Isolo General Hospital mortuary for autopsy.”

Badmos said Lekan Shonde still remains at large and all efforts to reach him was yet to be fruitful, as all his phones were switched off.

She however promised that “effort is on to get him. The command will certainly get to the root of the case. The case has been transferred to the homicide section of the State Criminal Investigative and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, for discreet investigation.”
