NPFL: Rangers Maintain Lead, Pillars Bounce Ikorodu FC

Rangers are back on top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) despite dropping their first points at home this season on the back of a 1-1 draw with Shooting Stars.
Rangers now have 28 points from 15 matches, a point ahead of second-placed Kano Pillars with Abia Warriors a close third.
Chisom Egbuchulam put Rangers ahead from the penalty spot after 80 minutes after he was upended inside the box.
However, Tope Orelope, who came close to signing for Rangers in the close season, drew Shooting Stars level in stoppage time also from the penalty spot after Matthew Etim handled the ball inside his own box.
Elsewhere, Kano Pillars yesterday put behind a painful home loss to Enyimba to beat Ikorodu United 2-1 and continue to put pressure on leaders Enugu Rangers.
Pillars are second on the table with 27 points from 15 matches, a point behind leaders Rangers.
Abia Warriors also have 27 points, but they are third by virtue of goals difference.
Ikorodu United remain rock bottom of the table on nine points.
Emmanuel Edmund opened scoring for Pillars after 15 minutes, when he coolly finished off courtesy of good play by Rabiu Shehu.
But visiting Ikorodu United restored parity on 27 minutes, when Yemi Olasupo headed home.
However, skipper Rabiu Ali, who had promised to score two goals in this match, delivered the winning goal in the 77th minute with an unstoppable pile driver.
In another result, Plateau United were held to a goalless draw by Sunshine Stars and Lobi Stars pipped MFM FC 1-0 at home.
