The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie- Oyegun, has said that the party and the government controlled by it are aware of the difficult economic situation facing Nigerians at the moment and will do  everything possible to ameliorate it.

He said that as a way of bringing immediate relief to the people, the APC-led administration will commence the implementation of safety net created to cater for the poorest and vulnerable Nigerians and other economic initiatives aimed at diversifying and boosting the economy.
Oyegun assured that the execution of critical infrastructural projects like the national railway network will be given priority  by the government in the implementation of this year’s budget.
In a statement issued by the publicity unit of the party on Sunday, Oyegun was quoted as having given the assurances at a dinner held in his honour by Saint Patrick’s College (SPC), Asaba, Old Boys Association (Abuja Branch) on Saturday night.
“We are not shutting our eyes to the pains of the Nigerian people because it is real. It is genuine. We can only plead for patience. Thank God the APC government has its very first national budget and the implementation of that budget will be passionately pursued.” he said.
While commenting on signing of the 2016 national budget which is the first since the inception of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal administration, Oyegun explained that about  30 per cent of  the budgetary allocation has been committed to capital projects.
