A water tanker crushed two school children to death and caused serious injury to two others at Ipata area of Ilorin on Wednesday.
THISDAY checks revealed that the incident was caused by brake failure of the truck, which led the vehicle to ram into the school children walking along the road leading to Ipata market.
It was also gathered that one of the children died on the spot, while the second later gave up the ghost while being attended to by Good Samaritans at the scene.
An eyewitness account also said that the third child sustained serious injuries and was said to be receiving treatment at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), while a fourth escaped with minor injuries.
The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Sunday Maku, who confirmed the incident, said investigations had commenced into the accident.
