I Am Still Alive, Says Anenih

Chief Tony Anenih, the former two-time chairman of the board of the People’s Democratic Party on Wednesday denied his rumoured death.

Anenih, who personally spoke on phone from London, said: “Thank God I am hale and hearty. I have not visited hospital. I am speaking to you personally. I don’t know where those people got  their information from.

“God has extended my life span beyond their expectation and He will still extend my life span beyond what I also expected.”

Reacting to the rumoured death, especially on social media,  Edo State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, also dispelled the rumored death.

A press statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary, Chris Nehikhare, said, “We wish to inform the general public, especially our teeming supporters in Nigeria and Edo State in particular, that Chief Tony Anenih is alive, hale and hearty and will return to Nigeria on Sunday after a brief visit to the United Kingdom. Please disregard all the media”.

Also reacting on the issue, Vincent Akhere, one of the close allies of the Uromi Chief, debunked the rumoured death, saying he spoke with Anenih for about 15 minutes and both of them joked over the issue.

He said Chief Anenih just left for the United Kingdom Tuesday and is expected by this weekend.
