Fani-Kayode Calls for Caution on Herdsmen Killings

By Ugo Aliogo

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called for caution on the Fulani herdsmen killings, stating that if critical steps are not taken, it would result to break-up of the nation.

He condemned the attempt by some groups to rationalise and justify the killings. While urging the northern and Fulani leaders to call their herdsmen to order. “This endless attempt to rationalise the killings has to stop because Nigeria is already on the road to Kigali.”

Kayode explained that violence was not the best option for the country especially with the current economic challenges, noting that the issue has to be properly tackled before it destroys the nation.

He added: “If they don’t stop the slaughter of Southerners, the raping of women, the stealing and pillaging of lands by their kinsmen, our people will be forced to retaliate and this country will burn and break. Nobody wants trouble and I deplore violence and bloodshed but this is the reality. We must pull back from the brink before it is too late.”
